What to Expect

Straight answers. No surprises

Flying bush isn’t like flying out of Anchorage. Here’s what you need to know so you’re not guessing.
Delays

If Your Flight Is Delayed

Most Delays Are Short

Our average delay is about 20 minutes. Not hours. Not all day. Usually it’s weather clearing, a quick maintenance check, or waiting on a connecting flight. We know your time matters, and we move as fast as we safely can.

If It Turns Into a Cancellation

Sometimes a delay becomes a cancellation. When that happens, we rebook you on the next available flight. Your station manager will help you sort it out.

What to Do

Travel Policies

The Basics, Laid Out Plain

Check-In

Show up at the terminal at least 30 minutes before your flight. Your station manager will get you checked in. It’s not complicated — just give yourself a little time.

Baggage

Each passenger gets one checked bag (up to 100 lbs) and one carry-on. Oversized or heavy items? Talk to your station manager — we can usually work something out, but it depends on the load.

Rebooking

If your plans change, give us a call and we’ll move you to another flight. If we cancel your flight, we rebook you automatically on the next available. No extra charge for weather cancellations.

Children and Infants

Kids under 2 can sit on a parent’s lap at no charge. Children 2 and older need their own seat. If you have questions about car seats or special needs, just ask at the counter.

Freight & Baggage

We Move What the Village Needs

How Freight Works

Bring your freight to the terminal and talk to your station manager. They’ll weigh it, tag it, and get it on the next available flight. Most freight moves same-day or next-day, depending on the load.

What We Can Carry

• Groceries and perishables

• Hardware and building supplies (within size limits)

• Mail and packages

• Medical supplies

• Parts and equipment

Can't Carry

• Hazardous materials (fuel, explosives, compressed gas)

• Firearms must be unloaded and declared

• Items that won’t fit through the cargo door

Not sure? Call us at 1-888-FLY-YUTE (1-888-359-9883) or ask your station manager. We’ll figure it out together.
Weather

Weather Is Weather

The Y-K Delta has some of the most unpredictable weather in Alaska. Fog, crosswinds, low ceilings, whiteouts — we see it all, sometimes in the same day.

How We Decide

Our OCC team checks weather conditions at both ends of every route before a flight goes. If conditions are marginal, we wait. If they’re not going to improve, we cancel. The pilot always has final say.

What Happens When We Cancel for Weather

• You get rebooked on the next available flight automatically

• No extra fees for weather cancellations

• Your station manager will keep you updated

• If conditions clear, we sometimes add extra flights to catch up

A weather cancellation is frustrating, but it means the system is working. We’d rather you be annoyed at the terminal than in the air when conditions aren’t right.
