Reports To: Operational Control Manager and Director of Operations
Authority: Holds delegated authority to exercise operational control as specified in the Yute Commuter Service (YCS) General Operations Manual (GOM).
What the Job Is
The Flight Follower / Flight Coordinator supports the safe and efficient operation of Yute Commuter Service flights by coordinating flight activities, monitoring aircraft and flight progress, maintaining accurate operational records, and communicating critical information to flight crews and company personnel. This position works closely with pilots, station and operations personnel, Village Agent Coordinators, and the call center to ensure flights are properly coordinated and conducted in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
Coordinate flight operations with station freight and operations personnel, Village Agent Coordinators, call center staff, and other company personnel.
Build and assign flights in accordance with the YCS GOM and applicable company procedures.
Monitor the progress and status of flights using the company flight-tracking system.
Prepare, review, and maintain flight manifests and other required flight paperwork for passenger and cargo flights.
Review manifests and flight paperwork submitted by pilots to ensure all required information is complete and accurate.
Update the company Flight and Traffic Log, Takeflite, flight tracking systems, and other applicable operational records.
Record required flight plan information on the Company Flight Plan Log and maintain the log until all company flights are complete.
Coordinate and participate in the flight release process with the Pilot in Command (PIC) in accordance with the YCS GOM.
Review the applicable Flight Risk Assessment with the PIC and ensure required management approvals are obtained before releasing flights.
Communicate information that may affect the safety or operation of a flight to flight crews and appropriate company personnel.
Monitor weather, runway conditions, and other operational hazards and restrict or suspend operations when unsafe conditions are identified, as authorized by company procedures.
Immediately report unsafe or hazardous conditions, incidents, accidents, or other significant operational concerns to the Director of Operations or Chief Pilot.
Initiate flight locating procedures in accordance with the YCS GOM and Company Emergency Response Plan (ERP) when required.
Send the end-of-day aircraft status report after completion of the day’s final flights.
Participate in assigned ERP drills and other company safety activities.
Participate in the company safety reporting system.
Maintain familiarity with and comply with applicable company manuals, policies, and regulatory requirements, including:
YCS General Operations Manual (GOM)
FAA-issued Operations Specifications
Applicable Federal Aviation Regulations
Company Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
Company Ground Service Manual
Company Hazardous Materials Manual and Training Program
Regularly monitor company email, text messages, and other communication channels for operational notifications and instructions.
Perform other operational duties as assigned by management.

The successful candidate must be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to communicate effectively in a fast-paced operational environment. The position requires sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to respond appropriately to changing weather, flight, and operational conditions while following company procedures and regulatory requirements.
