We’re not just an airline that serves the Delta — we’re part of it. Here are some of the stories that show what that means.
Flight schedule increase
Hours of nonstop ops
Families assisted
“They know my name. They know my kids’ names. It’s not like flying with a big airline — it’s like getting a ride from someone you trust.”
— Mary T., Hooper Bay
“When my mom needed to get to the hospital in Bethel, they bumped freight to make room for her. That meant something.”
— James K., Chevak
“The flight was delayed 15 minutes. Rena came out and told us exactly why and when we’d be leaving. That’s all you need.”
— Sarah L., St. Mary's

Our FAA-approved Pilot Development Program (PDP) lets us fly two-pilot crews in our 9-passenger Cessna Caravans — aircraft normally operated single-pilot. That means we can hire commercial pilots as Second-In-Command before they meet the hours required to act as Pilot-In-Command, giving them real turbine time and IFR experience under the wing of our most seasoned captains.
For new commercial pilots, the hardest part of the career is bridging the gap between the certificate and the first airline job. The PDP closes that gap — in the most demanding and rewarding flying environment in the country.

Paired with trained mentor captains
Then PIC in the Cessna 207
Garmin G1000 turbine experience
It’s our FAA-approved Pilot Development Program (PDP). We hire pilots as Second-In-Command on our 9-passenger Cessna Caravans — which normally fly single-pilot — so newer commercial pilots can build hours and experience under the mentorship of seasoned captains.
An FAA SEL Commercial pilot license and a current 1st or 2nd-class medical certificate.

Same new-hire process as a line pilot: ground school on our operations and aircraft, simulator and flight training, then pairing with mentor captains who have completed dedicated mentorship training.
It depends on your starting flight time and our needs, but plan on at least 6 months as a first officer before upgrading.
Turbine time in our Cessna Caravan fleet — all fully IFR capable with Garmin G1000 (or equivalent) glass panels — flying Yute’s route structure across a wide range of Y-K Delta weather.
Upgrade to PIC in our Cessna 207 fleet, then transition to PIC in our Piper Navajos and Cessna Caravans as you build experience. Many of our pilots stay long-term for the pay, benefits, and a schedule with two consecutive weeks off every month.
The program is young, but we’re already upgrading one of our first participants to PIC on the Cessna 207. We also have a senior captain mentoring his own son through the program — passing his experience to the next generation of Yute pilots.
